Make your own movies from archived data!

On the Movie Making Page you can make your own soft X-ray or white light movies from the ten years worth of Yohkoh satellite data. You can also retrieve still images.

Each frame of the movie generated consists of an exposure normalized soft X-ray image taken with the AlMg (Dagwood sandwich) filter. Each frame has also been co-registered with all other frames and the images have been corrected for cosmic ray hits, dark current, spacecraft jitter and spacecraft pointing changes.

Because of the range of scalings used in the various movie formats it is recommended that any scientific analysis of these data be restricted to morphological studies. Absolute fluxes can not be derived from the data provided here. If these are required please contact a member of the Yohkoh science team.
